What is WashAttest?

Search for a mobile detailer, a commercial pressure washing company, or a fleet wash vendor and every result shows the same thing: a star average. WashAttest exists because a star average cannot tell a buyer whether a vendor's insurance is current, whether wash water is reclaimed where that is required, or whether last quarter's on-time rate held up.

The problem it solves

A rating and an attestation answer different questions

A star rating answers "was a past customer satisfied?" An attestation answers a harder question: "can this vendor prove, with documents, that it is insured, licensed, compliant, and operationally reliable?" Most directories only ever answer the first question. WashAttest was built to answer the second one, and to keep the two answers clearly labeled so a buyer never mistakes one for the other.

What gets checked

Four records, checked against one published standard

  • 01

    Compliance file

General liability, workers' compensation, business license, and stormwater or NPDES status, each with an expiry date and the date it was last checked.

  • 02

    Operational scorecard

On-time rate, rework rate, response time, units per night, retention, and incident rate over a trailing twelve months, disclosed with its sample size.

  • 03

    Proof of work

Before-and-after documentation, wash logs, per-unit reports, and discharge logs tied to an actual visit, not a slogan on a listing page.

  • 04

    Dispute record

Every challenge stays visible with the claim, the response, the evidence, and the outcome. Unresolved disputes are not hidden.

The full checklist for each of these four records is published in the WashAttest Standard.

What WashAttest is not

Not a lab certification, not a replacement for a site walk

WashAttest is not a government license and it does not test chemicals or equipment in a lab. An attested record is a documented, dated check against the published standard. It is a strong starting point for a procurement decision, not a substitute for confirming a current certificate of insurance or walking the site before awarding recurring work. The sample directory on this site demonstrates the record format with generated placeholder listings. Those are labeled sample data, they are not issued attestations, and they are excluded from search indexing.

Who uses it

Three buyers, one standard

Fleet managers
Compare vendors bidding on recurring yard work using the same fields instead of a single star average. See the fleet manager's guide.
Facilities and property teams
Verify a commercial pressure washing vendor's compliance file before awarding a storefront, lot, or dumpster pad contract. See the compliance checklist.
Wash and detailing businesses

Common questions

FAQ

What is WashAttest in one sentence?

WashAttest is the attestation body that defines and scores a standard for commercial and fleet wash vendors, covering a compliance file, an operational scorecard, proof of work, and a dispute record.

Is WashAttest a government agency or a certification lab?

No. WashAttest is a published standard and a comparison tool. It is not a government license, and it does not replace a certificate of insurance, a stormwater permit, or a site walk.

Does a listing on WashAttest mean the vendor is verified?

Only if the listing is marked attested against the WashAttest Standard. The sample directory used to demonstrate the record format is generated placeholder data and is not an issued attestation.

Who should read the standard before hiring a vendor?

Facilities managers, fleet managers, property managers, and anyone awarding recurring commercial pressure washing or fleet washing work should read it before comparing bids on price alone.
