WashAttest // Attestation standard

The standard for
commercial wash attestation

WashAttest is the body that defines and scores attestation for mobile detailing, commercial pressure washing, and fleet washing. A vendor is attested only when a reviewer has checked source documents against this standard and published the result. A star rating is not an attestation.

What an attestation includes

Four records, or it is not an attestation

  1. 01

    Compliance file

Insurance, license, and stormwater status, each with an expiry date and the date it was last checked.

    • General liability insurance, including carrier and limit
    • Workers' compensation, or an explicit missing status
    • Business license
    • Stormwater or NPDES permit
    • Water reclamation method and discharge plan
  2. 02

    Operational scorecard

A trailing twelve-month operating record. A star average is not a substitute.

    • Window and sample size disclosed
    • On-time rate inside the agreed service window
    • Rework rate
    • Median hours to first reply
    • Units per night
    • Retention rate
    • Recordable incidents per 1,000 visits
  3. 03

    Proof of work

Documents tied to a visit, not a slogan on the listing.

    • Before-and-after documentation
    • Wash log with date, unit, service, and crew
    • Per-unit report reconciled to billing
    • Stormwater discharge log
    • Certificate of insurance on file
  4. 04

    Dispute record

A challenge stays visible with the claim, the response, the evidence, and the outcome.

    • Date opened and date resolved
    • The claim and the business response
    • Evidence relied on
    • Outcome: upheld, amended, removed, or unresolved
    • Unresolved disputes are not hidden

Three different things

A sourced rating is not an attestation

A directory that shows a star average is quoting someone else. That is useful, and it is not the same as checking a document. WashAttest keeps the three levels apart so a buyer can tell which one they are looking at.

Sourced rating
A star average as published on a third-party profile, quoted with its source and the date it was read. Nothing was verified. It can change the next day.
Verified review
A review attached to a named operator role and a record of how many jobs that reviewer bought. The reviewer is known; the vendor's documents are not yet checked.
Attestation
All four records checked against this standard and published with a date. This is the only level that carries the WashAttest name.

File status

Complete means all four items are current

Required items are general liability, workers' compensation, the business license, and the stormwater or NPDES permit. Each item is marked verified, expiring, expired, or missing. The file status is the rollup. None is not an attestation.

Complete
All four required compliance items are on file and current.
Partial
At least one required item is missing, expiring, or not yet checked.
Expired
A required item is past its expiry and has not been replaced.
None
No compliance file has been checked. This is not an attestation.

Issuance

Sample records are not attestations

Issued attestation

A reviewer checks source documents against this standard and WashAttest publishes the result on the vendor record. The result can be complete, partial, or expired. A failing file is still published. Hiding it is not attestation.

Sample directory

The directory demonstrates the record format. Those listings, reviews, files, and scorecards are generated placeholders. They are labeled sample data, they are not issued attestations, and they are excluded from the index.

Questions the standard answers

What WashAttest is

What is WashAttest?

WashAttest is the attestation body for commercial and fleet wash vendors. It publishes the standard a procurement team uses to read a compliance file, an operational scorecard, proof of work, and a dispute record.

What does WashAttest attest?

WashAttest attests a vendor record against the WashAttest Standard. The record covers general liability, workers’ compensation, business license, stormwater or NPDES status, a trailing twelve-month scorecard, proof-of-work documents, and dispute outcomes. It does not attest that a star rating is true.

Is a star rating an attestation?

No. A star rating is not an attestation. An attestation exists only when WashAttest has checked source documents against the published standard and published the result. A rating with no compliance file is an unattested listing.

When is a compliance file complete?

A file is complete when general liability, workers’ compensation, the business license, and the stormwater or NPDES permit are on file and current, each with an expiry date and a last-checked date. Missing, expiring, or expired items make the file partial or expired.

Are directory listings issued attestations?

No. Listings in the sample directory show the record format. They are generated placeholders, labeled as sample data, and are not issued attestations. WashAttest does not ask Google to index them.

Where is the standard published?

WashAttest publishes the standard at getwashattest.com/wash/washattest/standard, with the sourced ratings and the sample record format alongside it.
